Country where you are from: Hungary How was your time at Vándortúra? It was my first ever Vándortúra nd I loved every minute of it. The company was brilliant, the organisation was top notch and I loved the route. As time went by during the trek, it was great to experience with my fellow trekkers how we became a true community of friends and family. What was challenging? Fall asleep at night next to the snorers. Unfortunately, even though I had earplugs, I could hear every snore. What is the nicest memory? The moment of crossing the finish line, when I entered the camp to applause, cheers and blaring music after 100 km of walking. Also, partying with my fellow trekkers on Friday night at the end of the trek. It was an amazing feeling to let off steam after 5 days of exciting hiking together, dancing and singing together until dawn. What is your most Favorite Fjällräven product? Kanken - Limited edition backpack with Budapest logo. What would you suggest to other participants? Don't think! It will be one of the most defining experiences of your life: Leaving your entire comfort zone, overcoming your physical limitations, an exciting inner journey, meeting wonderful new people. What was your most valuable piece in your backpack? My phone, because in addition to living every moment, I managed to capture so many moments in pictures and videos that I will look back on with pleasure years later.
Country where you are from: Hungary How was your time at Vándortúra? I had a super time! It was my first time hiking with such a big group and it was a completely different experience than hiking alone or in pairs. I met a lot of direct and helpful people and last but not least I learned a lot from others about different camping and hiking practices. What was challenging? The climb was definitely a challenge, but there's nothing better than climbing up a difficult ascent and then enjoying the beautiful view. What is the nicest memory? The many, many laughs with the other hikers and the spontaneous walks together during the hike are my fondest memories. What is your most Favorite Fjällräven product? It is difficult to choose a favourite product. I'd say the Abisko Shape 2 tent or the Kajka 55 bag, both were perfect for the trek! What would you suggest to other participants? If you're a complete beginner but would like to try long-distance hiking, or if you love hiking but don't have the company, the Vándortúra is a great way to improve your skills. Last but not least, you can also meet friends with similar interests! What was your most valuable piece in your backpack? For me, the gas cooker was the most valuable item in my backpack right now, and the knowledge that I could make a hot meal in minutes, anywhere, anytime. Anything else to add? I was excited, but a bit shy about this experience before the Vándortúra, mainly because I thought there would be too many professional hikers - and I still see a lot of gaps in my own hiking, or rather camping, skills. But the absolute opposite was true: everyone was extremely helpful and kind, I learned a lot and had a wonderful time!
Country where you are from: Hungary How was your time at Vándortúra? I think this was the best Vándortúra of the last few years, both in terms of location and organisation. I'm glad it was longer by a day, so it was almost a week, which allowed me to get away from it all! What is the nicest memory? Every minute was wonderful, it was an incredible experience, we had a great time, and we had fun. There were beautiful panoramas and wonderful places. What is your most Favorite Fjällräven product? I now have a new favourite, Keb Shorts, which did brutally well. I've been in it every day really. It didn't slip under the backpack, it didn't ride up, the pocket design was genius, and it was cool that you could barely see it being used! What would you suggest to other participants? Total mental backup! As someone who spends a lot of time in front of a computer, nature is a great treasure. I try to spend as much time there as I can, both in my free time and in my everyday life, but I don't have five days to do it, so it gives me a framework every year. It's a great way to clear my head, recharge and get inspired. But if you're on your own, you're guaranteed to find the right company here, it's an accepting and welcoming environment! So really, it's pointless to procrastinate, just get on with it! What was your most valuable piece in your backpack? It's hard to answer that, if I was really wet I would have said raincoat, but I might say raincoat in the end. I didn't take a top and jacket to save on weight and packing. I bought a High Coast Hydraic jacket two months ago. It's light as hell, very good quality stuff. I didn't get it, no advertising. It really worked. I put it on smoothly over a t-shirt on cold nights and didn't get cold at all. It was a lifesaver, if you don't count that then I don't think there is any value, the distance itself and the distance travelled is the value.
Country where you are from: Hungary How was your time at Vándortúra? Great! It was the defining experience of my summer. It's nice to meet people with similar interests every year. What was challenging? For me, the biggest challenge was how to complete the trek with my sore knee. There was no question that I would complete it, but knowing that hiking in the Bükk is not a walk in the park, I had to do a lot of preparation and planning. What is the nicest memory? In the morning, I started at the EC tent to discuss with the doctor how to continue the hike. It happened there that the patient before me had several large blisters and wanted to give up the tour on the last day before the last day. Then the doctor said, "No way! You can go all the way. Leave most of your stuff here, take only water and food, and we'll take everything else to the next point." This is exactly the kind of community spirit I've been coming to the Vándortúra for years! What is your most Favorite Fjällräven product? Keb Agile Trousers What would you suggest to other participants? From a technical point of view, I think it's a good idea to warn them to bring enough good quality hiking socks to minimise foot injuries, and to have sandals at the end of the day to rest numb limbs. That said, don't hesitate to sign up because it's great to be part of such a community! What was your most valuable piece in your backpack? My wedding ring taken off my finger.
Country where you are from: Hungary How was your time at Vándortúra? Every Vándortúra has an amazing atmosphere and great company, but this year was probably the best Vándortúra of all. I got to meet so many new people, even from across the border, who I hope to trek with in the future. It was a great experience! What was challenging? I had deliberately packed my bag with all sorts of comfort items, some of which were unnecessary, so I took the long climbs in the heat a little harder than before. What is the nicest memory? The many beech forests we passed through. What is your most Favorite Fjällräven product? Without a doubt the Abisko Friluft 45 backpack. It was the best choice for this trip. What would you suggest to other participants? Experiencing it is always different than imagining it or watching it on video, so I can only say one thing: try it once and you'll be hooked! What was your most valuable piece in your backpack? My slippers. Anything else to add? Padded, woollen hiking socks and suitable, comfortable footwear should be your most important equipment!
